Citizens for Preserving Floyd County is a Virginia organization that was founded in the late 1970s by Wayne Bradburn and other concerned Floyd citizens to stop the 765 kilovolt Dominion power lines.
Although the power lines divided the county geographically, they united county residents of all kinds in opposing the industrialization of a rural, farming-oriented community.
With the arrival of new industrial proposals, such as the EQT gas pipeline, PreserveFloyd will be the the embodiment of the spirit of CPFC by which we will organize and distribute information, encourage conversation and active participation in the issues, and, if necessary, oppose industrial and corporate projects that threaten the rural character, natural integrity and health of Floyd County.
